Working together with women from The Glens Projects – Glen Isla and Glen Clova – to create a sculptural piece for their community, whilst reflecting the women themselves.
Created to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March 2023 and found at Arbroath Harbour, with stunning views out to sea, over the harbour and town and to the iconic Signal Tower too.

Designed to build relationships, whilst working together as a group. To build a sense of pride and gain confidence in learning new skills/ showcasing talents. We used our local area as direct inspiration, going out as a group sketching and taking photos and notes as we explored Arbroath Harbour. Hopefully it will encourage everyone to get outdoors and explore more, which we all know makes us feel better (even when it rains).
“Working with the women from the Glens Projects has been inspiring. They have not only been creative but they have been brave too. For some the bravery was being part of a group and for others it was allowing themselves the freedom to draw and experiment and have fun. I have watched each and every woman in our group grow over the weeks and really contribute. I am so proud of them all. They worked really hard to produce the concepts behind our window sculpture and it has been an honour to have their trust in pulling it all together for them. I hope that it is something that they can be proud of for years to come.”

This sculpture will hopefully become: a meeting point, a place to visit, a place to reflect, a showcase of local talent, a reason to get outside and explore.

The team at Glen Isla/ Glen Clova Projects are just wonderful. Their enthusiasm, dedication and care for the women in their projects shone through from the start.
I have left feeling inspired and grateful to have been a part of creating something special to celebrate International Women’s Day. Women supporting women – it’s a powerful thing.
