“Suzanne was an obvious choice to create the artwork for the new unit. Her background as a social worker and her working with children and young people was an obvious benefit. Moreover, she had been active with a variety of wonderful projects around the city. Her Discovery Walk bronze plaques just one example of a lasting legacy for Dundee. She has such a unique style, that is fun, quirky, individual, instantly recognised. Huge thought goes into the creation of her work, that turns each project into a bespoke one, with her personal stamp and trademark always recognisable. Her warmth and natural sense of fun is infectious. She listens and grasps the nature of each project very quickly, so that she is able to adapt and incorporate the ideas given to her.

Suzanne’s distinctive style is unique yet individual for each and every one of her projects. This is no more evident than in this Tayside children’s theatre suite. Her imagination and the depth of detail in her work is stunning. It inspires and appeals to the imagination of children of all ages. And uniquely also to adults. It appeals to the inner child in us all.”

Grant Rodney, Consultant Anaesthetist, 9 May 2022 (Children’s Theatre Suite Project)

“The artwork created by Suzanne for the Children’s Theatre Suite at Tayside Children’s Hospital is quite exceptional and has transformed the environment into a bright, welcoming, child friendly environment for children and families attending the facility.  It provides a wonderful distraction and point of discussion for children who may be somewhat anxious about attending for surgery and reducing such anxiety is so important for their care.  The Riverside theme developed by Suzanne encapsulates the history and location of Dundee beautifully and the story and detail within her work is quite astonishing.   The finished work is absolutely fabulous and well beyond our expectations when we commissioned Suzanne.”

Kay Fowlie, Projects’ Co-ordinator, NHS Tayside, June 2022 (Children’s Theatre Suite Project)

“… the incredible artwork, which has really transformed the facility from what would otherwise have been a clinically excellent children’s theatre suite, that is already a million times better than the previous facility, but which Suzanne’s artwork has literally propelled to out-of-this-world levels (and I use the world “literally” carefully) …. “

Paula Cormack, CEO, The ARCHIE Foundation, April 2022 (Children’s Theatre Suite Project)

“Wow! – as expected, your artwork is amazing – quirky, sensational and beautifully crafted… It really brings the whole unit together”

Rodney Mountain, Surgeon and Creator of links between healthcare art and design, May 2022 (Children’s Theatre Suite Project)

Your art work is truly amazing within the space. It has captured the childrens playful world as well as giving the adults something to engage with in their own imaginations. Thank you so much for the fun and playful stories within the picture narrative. It reads so well and we will constantly be interpreting the ‘hidden’ detail. Thank you for sharing your imagination with us, and giving children this distraction at a time of heightened anxiety en route to theatre.

Amanda McCabe, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, May 2022 (Children’s Theatre Suite Project)

“Suzannes illustrations in the children’s theatre suite in Ninewells Hospital have helped us create a space which is welcoming for children and their families. Suzanne’s artwork provides a calming atmosphere but one which can also be used as a tool for distraction. The children and their families take great delight in spotting and counting the various birds and animals and finding Oor Wullie within the illustrations.

Suzannes bubbly and enthusiastic personality is transferred into her artwork and her eye for detail is evident on the walls of our wonderful unit.

It was a pleasure working with Suzanne and I hope to have the opportunity to work with her again on future projects.”

Ashley Phillips, Senior Nurse – Acute Children and Young Peoples Services / Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner, NHS Tayside, June 2022 (Children’s Theatre Suite Project)

“The Dundee Christmas Card was a real highlight this Christmas. In a year when we all needed cheering up, it was an incredibly fun and beautiful way to help celebrate the festive period. I saw so many families with a smile on their face as a result of this new Christmas addition.”

Councillor John Alexander, Leader of Dundee City Council & Councillor for Strathmartine Ward (SNP) – (Dundee Christmas Card Project)

“On behalf of everyone at Roxburghe House I would like to thank Suzanne, The Northwood Charitable Trust, staff and patients who have all helped to make this amazing art project a reality.

“What started as a passing comment on what can we do to improve the entrance has, with hard work and enthusiasm and a great deal of creativity, culminated in this beautiful addition to our facility. This was a very successful collaboration and it was lovely that day care patients were also involved in the design.

“Our staff provide a vital specialist palliative care service to the people of Tayside, providing dedicated support to patients and their families at often very difficult times in their lives. Over the years Roxburghe House has developed strong links with the local and wider communities and I know that it is held in high regard by the public. I am delighted that we can now share this wonderful art piece with everyone who enters the unit.”

Fiona Barnett – Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership, Clinical Coordinator for Specialist Palliative Care Services – NHS Tayside (Roxburghe House Mural)

“Suzanne worked with us to design and develop the Porter’s gin brand. We needed to strike the balance between a modern and classic product with a touch of ‘whimsical’ to bring our brand alive within the gin category. It was a pleasure to work with Suzanne, always prompt in her communications, very professional and talented, she was willing to spend the time exploring the creative avenues for the project. We will definitely be working with her again in the future as we develop our brand and product.”

Ben Iravani, Porter’s Gin

“The illustrations are nothing short of breathtaking.”

Alex Lawrence, Porter’s Gin

“Suzanne Scott is an artist and illustrator who defies easy definition and pushes constantly at the boundaries of creative practice. As a designer/maker her products are sold at shops, pop ups and through her Etsy store. Her artwork installations have been commissioned by bars, and she has produced illustrations used to brand events, and even beer and gin! More recently Suzanne has secured prominence as a public artist, designing and producing bronze plaque’s for Dundee City’s Discovery Walk. As an artist and project manager, she was artist co-ordinator for the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail, which raised over £1 million for the ARCHIE Foundation. Through the Discovery Walk she has made her permanent mark on the city, and through her many diverse activities, she demonstrates the value and versatility of her creative enterprise!”

Mike Press, Director of Open Change and Emeritus Professor of Design Policy

“Suzanne’s energy, passion and commitment as an art coordinator for the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail was hugely impressive. She went over and above to ensure that the art delivered was of a high standard and dedicated her time and support to all of the artists involved in the project whatever time of day! This was a critical part to her role and she did an exceptional job with strong attention to detail throughout the whole project. If an artist needed guidance, she was always there for them providing an abundance of enthusiasm and support. Suzanne was extremely proactive and took great pride in her role as an artist coordinator.

I would highly recommend anyone to work with Suzanne on any future art projects. Not only is Suzanne a very talented artist she has clearly showcased to the City of Dundee and beyond her enormous capabilities of working on a major public art project.

Suzanne was a huge support to me for the project and I have the deepest gratitude to her for being such an incredible artist coordinator!”

Cassie Thompson, Director of Fundraising for The ARCHIE Foundation and Project Director for Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trail

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Suzanne Scott now on a couple of projects. She was at the heart of developing the branding and illustrations for one of our highly acclaimed bars Bird & Bear which is set at the newly developed waterfront area in Dundee.

She also created a fantastic piece of wall art within the bar itself which has become iconic and extremely “instagram worthy”, you can’t fail to see it in the background of our many customer posts on social media.

Suzanne was an integral part in the finished design of the project and almost became my design consultant throughout. The bar is currently up for the award of Scotland’s most stylish bar in the Scottish style awards.

Aside from the design and creativity, Suzanne is always a pleasure to be around, her uplifting and positive attitude towards projects is infectious. She is forever the professional, meets deadlines and delivers on all counts.”

Phil Donaldson, Owner of the Macmerry Group (Jam Jar, Bird & Bear, Draffens, Gracies, King of Islington, The Blue Room, Abandon Ship Bar and BuBu)

“Ever since I met Suzanne she has been in progress…always inventive, focused, creative and caring… Inventive: she has found/produced the most diverse artists to show their work in our salon exhibitions and shows. Focused: on discovering new possibilities for creative projects and finding solutions to any barriers that do arise. Creative: searching for new talent and providing ways of pushing the boundaries in our emerging new creative Dundee. Caring: always considerate and mindful of the needs of the organisers and any collaborators on her many and varied projects.

For the past  4 years, sometimes from an abstract thought of mine, interpreted by Suzanne, we have worked together on many creative and successful happenings and events. Without her organisational nous the collaborations we have been involved with may not have got off the ground; often only her perseverance to fight the delays encountered meant that the projects were achieved at all.

The above qualities not only allow Suzanne to network extremely effectively in the community;  with CEOs of large NGOs; with the directors and owners of businesses and companies large and small;  with families and children from extremely challenging backgrounds, but also with undoubtedly the most challenging of all – artists of varied talents, successes and diverse disciplines – to make their ideas come to fruition.”

(Irving Miskell-Reid, Owner Freedom Hair Experience and Dundee Ambassador)

“Whilst developing the aesthetic and feel of our bar we wanted to collaborate with a talented local artist who shared our ethos of free expression and design. From experience of working with Suzanne as she organised successful pop-up arts & craft events and cultured an artistic community within our bar we felt she was the right person to bring a touch of artistic flair to our walls. I found Suzanne to be an incredibly focused, hardworking artist and I am forever grateful for her lending her talent and passion to filling our empty boring grey space with unique and beautiful quirky designs which have been admired by countless patrons.”

Gary Stewart, General Manager, Brewdog Dundee

“Having seen pieces of her work previously I was excited to have her on board and gave her free licence to funk up our walls as she saw fit.

“The work that’s gone into these is incredible and we were all blown away by how amazing these pieces look, completely transforming the look of both our female and male rest rooms.

“Suzanne and I are already having chats about some other cool projects so we’re really looking forward to working with her again in the not so distant future.”

Graham Duff, General Manager, BrewDog Dundee

“Suzanne delivered wonderful artwork to help personalise Bramble Cottages – two houses for children who require residential care in Angus. Her enthusiasm and social skills allowed her to engage with young people and staff with respect to their ideas for the artwork. Her artistic skills ensured that the finished work was unique and much admired contributing to a wonderful environment for all.”

Bramble Cottages Project, Steve Urquhart, Area Manager (Children and Family Services), Angus Council

“We are a design agency based in Sydney Australia and we commissioned Suzanne to create an illustration for one of our clients. Her quirky and unique style was exactly what we were looking for. It was a very seamless process and we were delighted with the result. We will definitely continue to use her and recommend her to colleagues.”

JDRF Gala Ball Illustration Commission, Angela Spindler, Director, Depot

“The artwork produced by Suzanne and help in developing the Discovery ‘Smoked in History’ beer label evolved into a whole range of retail products. It was great to collaborate on the project and see the fantastic marriage of modern artwork and design with important heritage assets such as the RRS Discovery.”

Mark Munsie, Operations Director, Dundee Heritage Trust

“I have loved working with Suzanne! She is not only a phenomenal artist with a distinctive style, she has a host of other skills which make her perfect for group work. We worked together with a group of children with experience of being in care. We not only acquired scrolls (literally) of their thoughts and feeling but created beautiful pieces of art to help illustrate their group! I would be ecstatic if ever I get the chance to work again with Suzanne, indeed I hope to….

Ray MacLean Development Officer, Who Cares? Scotland

“I came back from my travels, ready to refresh my business’ look to better reflect me and our new location next to the sea. I gave Suzanne a pretty tight brief, and she not only produced exactly what I asked for, but applied her special whimsical lush magic to it to make it even better than I could have hoped for. I now have a logo that looks professional yet still looks fun and approachable, and gives me that warm happy holiday feel every time I see it 😊 the number of compliments I receive about it reflect the genius of Suzanne’s design and talent! Suzanne herself was a delight to work with, responsive and professional.”

Claire Birch, Fife Coastal Fitness

“I’ve known Suzanne since the very beginning of her WhimSicAL LusH journey and have seen her business grow into this amazing little treasure trove of truly innovative and exciting products. Be it her knitted bunnies, her badges and jewellery or just a simple greetings card, every item will bring a smile and brighten your day.  Trust me!  (It’s why I bought one of her 2016 calendars so that every day I’m inspired and gladdened when I see one of her fabulous images.  Everyone should have one, I should add.)

Anyway, these are the reasons she was the first person I thought of when my new business needed a logo.  We wanted something striking yet simple, quirky yet classy, and this is exactly what we got.  Suzanne was a joy to work with, delivered the product on time and left us all very happy. What more could you want?!  Honestly, if you haven’t discovered the wonders of WhimSicAL LusH, you really should.  It will make your heart sing!”

Kathryn Baker, Sacred Grounds Coffee Company

“I was so happy to discover Suzanne and WhimSicAL LusH at a local craft fair. I asked if she could design our wedding invitations and she definitely did not disappoint! Within a couple of weeks she had created an entirely personal, one off illustration that was exactly what I had asked for. Best thing is we get to keep theoriginal as a keepsake! Very professional and highly recommended!”
