I can finally unveil my Hansel and Gretel Storybook Ball piece that I have created for The Archie Foundation š²
Itās going to be auctioned on Saturday 25th August at The Chester Hotel šæ I hope it raises lots! Itās always makes me nervous when my work goes to auction!
This intricate piece is hand illustrated and cut, then housed in a stunning glass dome on a lovely elegant stand.

This will be the second annual ball held by the charity to raise money for their work at the Royal Aberdeen Childrenās Hospital. The ARCHIE Foundation provides specialist medical equipment, advanced staff training, child-friendly hospital spaces and emergency grants.
This yearās Childrenās Hospital Storybook Ball has an āenchanted forestā theme and will showcase a range of unique art pieces created by artists that will then be auctioned off for the charity.
Watch it spin…
Fairytales, fables and storybooks were such a huge part of my childhood and I love being able to look back at those happy times where I got lost in a tale and my imagination ran wild. From the brothers Grimm to Hans Christian Anderson, Aesop’s fables to Roald Dahl and the Moomins, I always had a book open and usually fell asleep reading at night.
Some of my favourite illustrators then are still mine now and you can probably spot their influence. Arthur Rackham, Tove Jansson and Quentin Blake to name but a few…
I owe them a big thanks because even though I’m not that little girl anymore, I still love to get lost in my imagination and dream of stories and inky worlds. š¤šæ

Turning Back the Pages to The Storybook Ball 2017:
Just in case you missed it… This is the Little Red Riding Hood piece I created for the Storybook Ball last year! It’s now with a new home after raising lots of money for The Archie Foundation.

Here’s a little film of The Little Red Riding Hood piece close up and spinning… Little Red Riding Hood Sculpture Film
Some work in progress piccies and films too…
Grandmother’s house… decided to change the roof and make it more detailed. I’m so fussy sometimes if something doesn’t quite feel right!
Another film clip of the hand drawn flowers for the piece: Almost a metre of iluustration…
More clips of… Rooftop fun and illustrating trees!
I also created a piece inspired by the BFG by Roald Dahl and created the famous giant’s collection of dreams. All with bespoke labels telling the story of each dream. I hear that the new owners of this piece are delighted with it!
Here’s a little film of the piece: BFG sculpture film
All the dreams stood on stacks of books…
