April! Seriously? Already? Wow! Time has flown by, and no wonder. March was a blur of busy and April doesn’t look to be slowing down either. But I like it that way. Keeps me out of trouble! Well… almost! I hope this month’s newsletter finds you happy and enjoying Spring 🙂
Just to re-cap a little bit on last month: I attended Dundee’s Face of Freedom show (and so did my artwork)! It was an emotional rollercoaster of an event, which was to raise funds for Maggie’s Centre Dundee, and an exciting one too as I got to see the models wearing my little houses in their hair and a logo I designed on T-Shirts, backdrops and tattoos (temp) that I put on pretty much everyone who was backstage! If you would like to read more about my involvement and see some of the photos I took backstage please check out the little piece I wrote about it here.

Some of you will remember The Great (Whim)Bot Off from last year and some of you won’t have a clue about what I am talking about! Well, for those of you who don’t it is a project I started last year all about robots and about encouraging others to draw and create. It started off with some robots (my WhimBots) that I began drawing last winter and ended up with an exhibition (both online and offline in a gallery) of around 100 robots by about 70 artists and a robot building workshop for kids! It was too much fun and too many people were asking me to keep it going… so I have! It was re-launched two weeks ago and the ‘bots all have a new home now too in their own blog as well as on the WhimSicAL LusH facebook page. They have their own hashtag too #WhimBotWed because Wednesdays are WhimBot days (of course)! Please pop over to visit the WhimBots and their robot pals here, and if you want to join in too, all the details are there for you.
Ok.. now for April’s news! First up is about a business competition I entered this morning. I don’t generally enter competitions but this one would really help keep me on the right tracks with my work. So please vote? It’s super easy, you don’t have to sign into anything, just click a button (you can do it everyday too.. hint hint :P) Here is the link if you would like to help out. Would be much appreciated as I am a late entry and it closes in the next few days. Fingers crossed!!
I have entered one of my little houses to be a part of a very cool project on the 5th April, which is taking place in Dundee. There is still time to get involved too if you want. It is called the What Could Be Here project and is all about re-designing a piece of waste ground in Dundee with art. Click here for more info.
I have a few markets coming up this month too, including two new ones for me in Aberdeen, one in Dunkeld and returning to Falkland again. How exciting! For all the upcoming markets and events this year please head to the Events page up at the top.

The WhimBots are travelling all the way down to London on 1st and 2nd of April where they will be showcased by Southfield Stationers at the London Stationary Show. The ‘bots and I are very excited about it (even if I am a little bit gutted I can’t go too!).
I was delighted to be asked to design the new Beary Tales logo too recently. I loved drawing this one and was so pleased that Lynne was delighted with it too. She is also a huge toadstool fan! Can you tell 😉
Finally, before I scoot off to start my birthday celebrations, here is a new boxworld/ diorama that I have just finished. It is based on my original ‘Supermoon’ illustration. I tried to make it look like it was hidden inside an old book and loved creating it! I hope you like it too…
Have an awesome April (and final few days of March), hopefully see you at some of the events and please do join in with me with The Great (Whim)Bot Off!
