This is a lovely item of functional art from Whimsical Lush representing discovery, travel, adventure and Dundee’s Discovery Ship. This art piece is an upcycled wooden suitcase used on a voyage from Canada to Scotland in 1949, featuring several original illustrations, including the original compass from the ‘Ghost Ship’ illustration and freehand details.
Local artist Whimsical Lush was commissioned to illustrate the Discovery Ship for the label of their beer ‘Smoked in History’. The beer was brewed by Alechemy (in collaboration with BrewDog Dundee) using smoked teak timbers from the ship.
Within this unique art piece is a range of items donated by Discovery Point, including some of the beer, 2 family tickets for the ship and a hardback book ‘The Crossing of The Antarctica”. Also hidden inside is a limited edition, signed, fine art print of the ‘Ghost Ship’ illustration and a beautiful bone china mug from WhimSicAL LusH.
The bidding for this silent auction ends at 10pm on Friday 25th September at the Archie Foundation Gala Ball, which is being held in the Apex, Dundee.
